One of the most important fairs for metal branch industry took place in September at EMO in Hannover. There was no possibility to miss for our representants. The main purpose to attend by Mettec at EMO show was to meet and research latest technology solution used on field of CNC turning with longitudinal lathes.
The exhibitor’s companies presented knowlage specially about tools and whole metalworking – the key information for us, which could be used to improve efficiency of working procces. Plenty of meetings with interesting persons had the aim for us to recognize the best suppliers for special and tailor made tools. The solutions and technical inventions shortly will be use on our longitudinal lathes. The contacts entered during the fairs already bring us effects in fact of new orders and recovered projects which seemed to be too difficult before.

Notes: New developments in turning operations
ISO 9001:2008 certification in Mettec Company is being in progress. Meeting our customer’s quality expectations is our first priority. For that reason we develop internal quality control procedures paying close attentions to standards throughtout the process of manufacturing from choosing the right raw material till the finished product is dispatched. We have well-equipped gaiging back-up facilities, which are constantly being developed while working on new projects.

Mettec benefits now from a project cofinansed by the European Social Fund as part of the Human Capital Programme called “European Funds – a chance to boost employment in Tczew County”.
The program provides confirmation of the main directions of development in the goverment’s politics of employment and allows to make use of European’s Social Fund financial resources.The main aim of the program is to increase employment and to rise social cohesion as well. The achivement of the basic aim is being fulfill by six strategic objectives as follow:
The program’s activities cover areas such as: employment, education, social integration, progress of potencial adaptation levels of emplyers and companies, problems related with human resources and the construction of an efficient and effective public administration at all levels as well.
The initiative gives young engineers an opportunity to develop and put into practice their knowledge. It creates the right environment where they can further their career and gather experience, which is crucial in today’s world.
The Operational Programm is cofinansed at 85% by European Union’s financial resources, and being more precisely from European Social Fund and at 15% by National resources of Polish Government. The total amount foreseen for the implementation of the Programm is more then 11,5 mld Euro.
According to our “process development” project the new solutions for tooling in an area of longitudinal lathe rods turning have been implemented.
We have been working for quite a long time to solve the problem with quality of the face surface in turned parts. Explorations and tests done on longitudinal lathes aimed to optimalize the hybrid approach to matching the right tools with working parameters. It’s known that the perimeter’s speed of milling drops when the process approaches of process (turning on swiss type of lathes) the axis of the material which effects quality.
For operations which take place near the center of the material we have tested several setups of turning parameters and modified tools manufactured by leading tooling company Sandvik ®. They all were aimed at obtaining very smooth and flat face front surface with the Ra parameter described by client’s demands.
The results of experiments with helpful client’s supporters from Sandvik brought knowledge about the turning process on lathe longitudinal turning and has been implemented as a solution for quality production for one of our customers who had been searching for the right technology for more then two years.
